Hello, I would like tu put a flash movie as header image, in this way a can manage some things I love, can you please give me a hint to place the flash movie into the code without creating the distruction of the theme?

    Thanks for your help

    Miguel

  2. webmaster Says:

    Miguel,

I’ve had a few requests like this. The problem is the header image is used as a background and a flash object cannot be used this way. So you’d have to remove the contents of the headerimg block to have the flash object up, but you’d lose the blog title & description + page navigation.

Hello and thank you for the wonderful theme!

In the sidebar, I would like to list the pages and the children of the pages, however I do not want to list the children of the children pages. Basically, I do not want to show the “grand-children pages” on the homepage. Thank you very much!

  4. Miguel Says:

@ webmaster: Thanks for your explanation, I’ve made some test and I made it, in a few weeks will be up on my blog a version of Mandingo with a Flash header.
Keep up the good job, thanks again

  5. Nico Says:

    Hey there,
Can you look into what breaks compatibility with the Now Reading plugin? (http://robm.me.uk/projects/plugins/wordpress/now-reading). I’ve tested the plugin with other themes and it works just fine, but it breaks under your theme, which is a shame, because the theme really is awesome.
The problem is when you see a book or the whole library, and the sidebar ends up anywhere but the side :P
    See here:
    http://www.alfaj0r.com/library/carl-sagan/cosmos/

And someone else’s site, using your theme and the same plugin, also has the problem (this is how i know it’s not just me either!) :
    http://www.peter-hodges.com/index.php?now_reading_author=
    john-varley&now_reading_title=mammoth

I love the theme, but I need some help in figuring out how to make this last bit look good. Thanks for the great work!

    Thanks for this wonderful theme!
I mixed it with mimbo theme to give a magazine-style to my site.

  7. dirk Says:

I really like the flexibility of the Mandigo theme.
Yet I would like to change the navigation in the header from text to icons.
I saw it done on a blog a couple of weeks ago but can’t find which one.

Do you know how I can achieve this?

  8. tom Says:

Stephane, long lines that cant be wrapped break the layout. Speaking of which I had to manually break the second link in your post.

dirk, it would take a whole tutorial for this. http://alisko.org/ has such a navigation, you may want to get inspiration from it.

  9. Ivan Says:

Tom: I have been a long-time user of the Mandingo theme (started at 1.13), but I just recently installed the 1.30 version and it seems to be having some problems with javascript in the text widgets. I use an amazon aStore widget in a text widget in the left-hand column of a three-column version of Mandingo. When I load the page with 1.23, it works fine, but when I load the page with 1.30, it starts to draw the columns and then seems to get hung up on the amazon js and never finishes loading.

  10. angel Says:

This is a great theme you share with the rest of us.
    I was wondering for a request though….
Is it possible to: Have the head images that appear in certain pages, to NOT show up anywhere else?
If lets say we were to name the images -5.jpg (notice the minus sign in the beginning) for page with ID=5, than that image would show up ONLY on the specified page and NOWHERE else. That means images with a minus sign in frond of them would be specially assigned to ONLY a post or page.
Just a thought. What do you think?
    Thanx in advance,
    angel

  12. Chase Says:

I would like to remove the star next to the sidebar titles. Is it possible to replace it with my own symbol? If it’s a colored object, will the them color fill in and screw it up?

  13. Chase Says:

I posted a question earlier, apparently it didn’t make it. My question is about the stars in the sidebar. Is there a way that image can be replaced? What if it’s replaced by a colored image or something?

  14. Alisko Says:

chase you can change it easily. you should edit your style.css.php . you should search star.gif and change it what you want.
    my english is bad :)

  15. Drunkbunny Says:

OK, never did get the 800 resolution or the 1024 with 2 sidebars to display correctly - always had a sidebar going “out of bounds” and I never could fix it. But it still looks good at 1024 with one column. Go check it out at my site! I’m still working on customizing the header image for all the schemes so I can use the “change scheme randomly” option.

Paypal will be coming to you the next time I get paid! :)

  19. Hi - just got mandigo, love it, but have run into a problem. Using 3 column 1024 layout which looks great on FireFox 2.0, but on IE7 the left sidebar flashes on screen then vanishes. Any fix????

  20. chris Says:

How do you add more links to the navigation? Did I miss it? Oh and is it possible to change the font color from white to black? By the way I’m running 1.30 and it looks awesome.

  21. larry land Says:

I am trying mandigo out and have a major problem. In IE6 the only things clickable are in the header and footer. Nothing in the sidebar or the “Edit this page” in the content section is clickable. It works fine in IE7 and FF. I am using WordPress 2.3.3 and Mandigo 1.32. Any idea what the problem is?

  22. Bill Says:

I wanted to make a static page the home page, which required making that page subordinate to the posts page in order to prevent duplicate Home entries on the nav bar. That works, but then hovering over the posts page menu item shows the static page in a drop down menu. Is there a better way to have a static page as the starting/home page?

    Thanks!

  23. Matt Bennett Says:

Hi - noticed that my Mandigo was outdated (i’m currently running 1.31 and it looks like the most current version is 1.32). is there a way to do an upgrade without losing all my settings? can’t find anything in the readme file for upgrading with existing users… thanks for your help!

  24. Blake Says:

Are there any instructions out there already on how to change the header image? I can’t seem to figure out where it is in the theme’s files. Thanks.

  25. rob Says:

Was hoping someone could tell me how I can open a page from the header menu and the page automatically closes off the side menu’s as it loads. I understand there is a button on the top right hand corner of the page which enables this java script but how can I incorporate this on some of my page loads ?

    cheers & great theme

  26. Benny Says:

I am having so much trouble trying to input multiple images in a post, and wrap text around each. I don’t want to use the option to wrap text globablly becuase most of the images are centered.

However, when I try to make a post with multiple images, they look fine in the editor until I save the changes. Then, all of the images are scattered throughout the page.

Is there something I can change in the CSS or HTML code to separate the images from each other? I am trying to align an image to the left, and type text next to the image. Then I want to do the same for the next image, and so on… For some reason, the theme will not let me easily do this.

  27. Diane Says:

    Hello,

After trying a dozens of themes for my very new wordpressMu install, I chose Mandigo for it’s great design. Thanks a lot !!! It is great esp. for beginners like me.
If you check my wite, you’ll see I’m still really beginning. One question, I managed to get a black background and to get black sidebars etc. (so that the blog would be like the main site http://www.missterre.org) But the body background remains white. I’ve checked the style.css.php but I couldn’t find which line to change. Can you help ?

thank you very very much for everything

    Diane

    Nevermind, found solution !

  29. Carolyn Bahm Says:

I just put the Mandigo theme on my knitting blog and love it! I’ve set it up to rotate different header images, which is great — I was having a hard time choosing. :o) I am asking for help with two issues:

I’d like to put ads in the sidebars without the little star icons showing up beside them. Can you tell me how to do this? I’ve successfully placed the ads (just putting the code in a text widget), but the stars look funny beside the ads. (I like the stars fine in the rest of the sidebar, though.)

Also, I’d like the option to change the color and font used for the blog’s name in the header. I don’t know enough about where to find this in the CSS or elsewhere in the theme files; can you advise? (If there’s not an easy way to do this, I’ll just place text directly on the header images and reload them, after I turn off the option for the blog name and tagline to show.)

  30. Steve Says:

I am having a problem with 1.36 on WordPress 2.6. Every static page that I write shows up as a blank page. Every other theme that I choose does not have this problem. I have tried creating new datatbases, new sites, new downloads, but nothing seems to work. I really like this theme, but this is a show stopper.

Anyone have any ideas what is going on or what to try? I am thinking about hacking around on the theme code, but wanted to see if this was a known issue or a common problem.

  31. steve Says:

I’m new to wordpress and Mandingo…
