  1. Well, I found out about Mandigo a few months back, and I had a look at it on a locam Web Server on my Mac. It seemed great, but I wanted to know if I would be able to customise it to my needs.

After installation and activation of the theme in WordPress, I was quite astonished at the number of options you have to customise the theme without any modifications to the CSS or theme files. There was a whole set of options available for the theme. Not only do you have the choice between different color sets, but you can choose the header image, a certain width and style, the number of sidebars, where the bars are positioned, …

I was able to modify and adapt the theme to my own needs whithout altering all too much of the Theme’s files. With some more research I even think I should be able to do it without modifying anything in the Theme’s files at all.

To me this is a big bonus. It means that with every new version of the theme I don’t have to merge the modifications I made into the new version of the them at all.

    Great work on the theme.

    Regards,

    Stefaan

    Bonjour

Un grand merci pour ce thème qui offre plein de fonctionnalités. Très beau travail !

I am using the latest theme 1.36.2 on my site at http://www.heyvan.com/blogs/steve. I really like all of the customization options that you provide and the user interface to make them. This is an excellent theme and I see it used in a number of sites.

The only issue that I am having is with performance. Other themes do not seem to impact my server response as much as Mandigo and I was wondering if you have any tips, tricks or techniques for improving it on a Linux environment. I have looked at a number of other sites, some of which exhibit the same sluggishness that I do, and other that seem to respond much quicker and snappier.

I left you a personal message with the characteristics of my system and environment which I hope will help.

Great theme and great work. Thanks!

Thanks again for this awesome Theme. I have it permenant on my Blog and will be deleting about 30 themes from /themes/ directory.
as you probably know from my previous posts 1.36.1 did not work very well with wordpress 2.6 I upgraded to 1.36.2 and it is FLAWLESS.

Thanks again and many koodoo’s to the programmers

Just a note about my previous post. I think I may have stumbled across an answer. In my original site and test site, I had downloaded 1265 themes. I wanted to use this as a model for other users wanting to put blogs on my site and give them a lot of choices. I have now posted a question about this on a forum at WordPress.org (http://wordpress.org/support/topic/195817?replies=3).

Seems this is not related to the theme, but the number of themes (or directories) in the site.

I’m a Joomla user migrating to wordpress, more simple and easy to update. Tried some themes
then I found Mandingo,I like everything, visual, much options to customize even for a beginner like me.
I have just one problem, may somebody could help… I installed the slimbox plugin, works good, but the image don’t
overlay the header part… using the default plugin of Nextgen, work fine, anyway…

I think it may be nice to have an option to have the blog title and tagline right-aligned.. As it is I had to hack a little bit to get it right-aligned on my site.

  14. Brilliant! I’m using it for my personal website ( http://elainemiller.com ) and am enjoying doing the customizations for the header images! (If only I could have it choose a custom header PER CATEGORY, as well!)

Thanks for making such a great theme!

Another very satisfied Mandigo user here ( http://www.paulsibley.net/ ). I’ve been using the theme since the beginning of this year, after starting my blog last Christmas.

The things I particularly like about Mandigo are: the overall look; the options page — enables a lot of variety; the html inserts — enables quite a lot of change without touching main code files; the helpful Wiki — and especially the magical way my feeble efforts at contributing have been cleaned up ;) .

But most importantly, Tom has not just put together a great theme, he supports those using it too — here, the Wiki, and the WordPress forums.

Thanks Tom, I’m very grateful. And hope to be in a position to make another small donation sometime soon.

I’m using customized versions of Mandigo on both of my blogs, at http://www.explorenorth.com/wordpress/ and http://exploretravelonline.com/wordpress/

I’m very pleased with the template, but 3 of my readers have contacted me to say that it “hangs up” and won’t fully load, so I’m trying to figure out what that issue is.

I am using mandigo and i like very much. But i still have a problem that i cant fix. In firefox everything is working pretty good. But when i open my site with IE7 the two sidebars are pushed outside.

Can you maybe tell me how to fix that problem?

    Thx

  24. Tony Cecala Says:

Mandigo is my favorite general purpose theme. I use it as a CMS for clients.

I’m very pleased with the plentiful design options. While it’s almost perfect “out-of-the-box” I did use a bit of fancy Photoshop on the header png to get an image to “bleed over” the top on 1001HalloweenCostumes.com.

Using HTML inserts for CSS hacks is simply genius, and patch-o-matic is a lifesaver.

One person commented on sluggish performance–I recommend any of the wp-cache plugins, they work well and speed things up dramatically.

  25. Gerard de Vries Says:

Found it today and I must say I am impressed. Nice clear lines, easy setup through the setup screen and even the option to add Code into the pages. Best of all it all works like a charm.

The only thing I dont seem to be able to get to work are the top and bottom bars. I cant find an activate option in the setup screen. The widgets in those don´t show.

  26. Viviane Says:

I really really love your theme! It took me a while to find a theme good enough to replace my old one, but this one’s great. I just upgraded to the WP 2.7 beta today, and now I am wondering if / when you are going to make the theme compatible with WP 2.7? By that I mean for example comments.php as 2.7. now supports threaded and paged comments but Mandigo’s comments.php template doesn’t yet. I’d love to have threaded comments (I do right now with a plugin but with the theme would be even better). Thanks!

Just wanted to thank you for the excellent theme. The only question I have is how you can change the actual header image in the template? Where and how would you change it?

    Thanks,

    Hello. It is test.

  30. tim Says:

Great theme, but noticed a couple of bugs with latest wordpress 2.6.5 and latest IE browser.

    1. Sidenav Star bullets gif dont seem to show on latest wordpress version.

    2. The CSS drop down horizontal drop down nav displays wrongly when using latest I.E 8 browser and positioned to the right. Drop down text appears squashed.

Also is it possible to put in an option that removes the date and poster info from being displayed in the results list on wordpress ‘pages’ when the user runs a search.

Otherwise the knows when the static pages were created, unlike posts. Some authors using static pages wouldnt like the user to be able to see when the static pages (i.e. a contact page) was made.

An inbuilt option to reduce i.e. sidenav padding etc would also be great, there seems a lot of space that could be utilised and I find it hard to know which bit of code needs editing to reduce this.

  31. tony Says:

Hi, love Mandigo, a lot. Using it on my personal blog site, but just wondered if anyone’s done any work on a ‘dark’ theme for it (i.e. dark backgrounds and light text). I threw a dark scheme together, but there’s still a lot of hard coded ‘white’ in there (like the image used to render the large white area), and although you can change the post boxes to a useful colour in the options, if you change the background to a dark setting the various pieces of text that sit outside the post boxes are hard to read. So it’s going to take a lot of CSS work overriding the defaults, and I just wondered if anyone had already had a go?

Hmm, not explaining myself very well. In summary, I’m looking for a Mandigo scheme where the backgrounds are mostly dark grey / black and the text is lighter colours, higher contrast.

  32. That is one beautiful design! Stunning. The more I learn about Word Press, the more I like it. This design may just be the tipping point.

    hi,

is there any chance a larger width version is in the works, or a adjustable width version, the 1024 wide version still isnt that wide for me especially if using 3 columns.

id like to have a 3 column site using this theme but everything is too narrow for my needs, an adjustable width version would be great.
